Promoting content on Facebook has become an impossible mission, so we must not fall into common mistakes
Facebook has been restricting the visibility of the pages that do not pay a lot, currently or if they have not put you in receiving updates it is difficult for anyone to see your publications.
For me Facebook has gone from being my favorite social network to one that I hardly pay attention to, simply because it does not give me the results by itself, but which I work thanks to the groups and tags.
I have learned some things and from my humble experience I can talk about a series of actions that I will not use to promote my blog on Facebook.
Some of my reasons are quite personal and you may or may not identify with my point of view, so I would appreciate your comments on what you would not do on your Facebook fanpage to promote it.
Have the fanpage profile empty or incomplete
It is very important to correctly fill in the profiles of any social network, the fanpage profile is your cover letter, although it may not seem like it, it is a widely read part and thanks to that information you can receive opportunities.
Apart from incomplete pages arouse much suspicion among readers, I try to ensure that the information closely matches the content of my blog to avoid declines in followers.
Monotonous content
Boring content without images is something that attracts very little attention, so you have to try to share images, videos and any type of publication.
By not having a high rate of publication, what I do is that I add some blogs to my share list, all within the same theme, that I do take care that the posts do not compromise me or are advertising.
Buy followers
This is something more normal than it seems, the purchase of followers is a real nonsense if your followers do not interact with your content just because you want them.
They have offered me many ways to buy followers for Facebook pages but it is not worth it because it is not the type of audience I am looking for my blog.
This can harm your blog because the internet is very small and sponsors can be offended if they see that a large part of your followers are false
Create controversy
I love to argue or debate, I have always liked to generate controversy, I love to be contrary but on the Facebook page I don’t.
I have discovered that controversies take too much time that I can dedicate to something useful and that the people who are attracted by the discursions or the radicalism within my subject can harm me, so controversial or patatero, another thing is controversy or opinion but even a reasonable point.
Here also would enter not to follow polemics of trolls, directly blocking and so happy.
Publicly report something that concerns or touches my blog.
This is a tricky subject and I have it very clear, I never complain in public about plagiarism for example, for this I have my tools in SafeCreative that help me to claim, on Facebook I would only give morbid and ideas on how to get mad.
Not everything is a bed of roses and there are people who have misunderstandings and disappointments, also people who make you feel sick asking for services or things that they cannot pay or thought to take by the nose, neither is the fanpage the place to complain about it.
Offer something that I can not give and above for free
It’s that simple, it is drawer but sometimes we offer things with which we get our fingers.
In the beginning I offered help, in the end I have withdrawn that because I do not want anyone to work for free including me, this is an example like the people who offer courses or freebies that take up a large amount of time, there are many hours of production that should be gratified.
I am not referring to contests, I am referring to obligations that we can contract with Facebook followers that may be difficult for us to maintain.
Sell my life and my privacy
In my case, I can’t find a justification to talk about my life, my family or tell about my vacations, it is true that sometimes I can tell about experiences related to the subject I am dealing with, but I make vague references.
Facebook is a place where we share information with family and friends, but fanpages unless you have an ego-blogger component, it is rare that things are said, I am quite shy and I do not like to talk about my things, they also do not make sense.
I would not like it to be misinterpreted in my case, there are plenty of references to the “familiar” in other cases they are very necessary and life itself is the basis of the blog.
I hope you find interesting the actions that I would not take to promote my blog on Facebook, I don’t know if I have missed any, if you want to share yours.
